QLT Buffalo Gas Plant Remediation
The property at 249 W. Genesee Street in Downtown Buffalo was home to a manufactured gas plant beginning in the late 1800's. It's new owners, Duke Realty, are developing a modern headquarters office complex on this former brownsfield site for HealthNow New York, Inc, a $2 Billion healthcare provider.
OSC was contracted to complete the remediation by QLT Buffalo, LLC. The project included the excavation, stabilization and off-site disposal of over 175,000 tons of coal tar and cyanide contaminated soils. The project also required dewatering, water treatment, below grade concrete demolition, shoring, relocation of clean overburden and backfilling.
The contract, which had a final value of $13.9 Million, was completed safely and on time between June, 2005 and February, 2006. |
